Change the Danish driver's licence requirements to allow people from non-EU countries to convert their licence to a Danish licence without needing to go through the ludicrous and unnecessarily complicated Danish driving tests. Either accept a swap of foreign licences, or at the least offer a simple "conversion licence test". Write to the Danish Ministry of Justice (jm@jm.dk) or your Embassy or sign the ONLINE PETITION (see link below)!
I would love to know the total amount you spent on this process up to the point you passed.... I have a feeling it would make us sick.
ReplyDeleteDear Kelli,
ReplyDeletePlease check out my page on "The Traffic School Package" for an example of how much you'll pay! To this you need to add the 500 kr medical exam, 260 kr fee at the Bogerservice for registering and getting your temporary licence, passport photos, and of course any re-test with the Police Teoriprøve will cost around 900 kr I believe!
I posted Ping's blog on her experience getting a Danish licence to show that I am by no means the only person who is frustrated by this process and the unnecessary difficulty of the tests. I encourage anyone else who wants to share their experience to post a comment or a link to their blog.
ReplyDeleteLike Ping, I also passed my Australian Theory test with flying colours and on the first try! Unfortunately I can not say I passed my practical test the first time as I stupidly chose to accept another driver being courteous and waving me on to go first in a difficult intersection and I accepted - instant fail! Up until that point, I had lost virtually no points after 45 minutes of driving. Needless to say on the next test I followed the law strictly and accepted no courteous gestures from my fellow drivers and passed!
